Take your seat — the teacher will write the first question on the board.
This browser has no Arabic (Egyptian) voice installed, so the words are shown but not spoken.
How to play: the teacher (المعلم) writes an ENGLISH word or sentence on the board and you give it back in Egyptian Arabic. Most questions are four choices — each shows the Arabic with its reading, and the two small buttons beside it copy it to your clipboard and say it aloud, as often as you like. A SENTENCE may instead arrive as a bank of scrambled words: tap them into the right order, and tap any word again to take it back out before you check. Right, and the teacher cheers you on; wrong, and you are told the answer, the teacher encourages you, and the question comes back around later until you get it right. There is no failing — the class ends when every word is answered, and the marking says how many you cleared first time. The expand button on the room takes the class full screen with the question and the four answers still on screen. The lesson is the household, always the full one: the family and the names you call them (بابا, ماما, جدو, تاتا), the rooms of the house (المطبخ, أوضة النوم), the things in them (التلاجة, سرير), the chores done in them (يغسل, يكنس), the food on the table (عيش, رز), and the parts of a day a home runs on (الصبح, الليل) — the Arabic a family actually says to each other.
