How to play: the board deals each word twice — once written in Arabic, once as the way it is said or as its English. Tap a tile, then tap its partner: a pair goes in, pays 100 points, and is said aloud in Arabic. Every pair you make without a mistake multiplies the next one, up to five times over, and a wrong guess counts a mistake and puts the run back to nothing — the board ends only when every pair is matched. Clear it and the clock stops; each deck and size keeps its own best time. This board revises lesson 1 of the Egyptian Arabic course — the decks below hold the lesson’s words.

The word is the script: the Arabic has to be matched against the way it is said or what it means, never the other way round. The Letters deck is the one that cannot be answered by meaning — خ is a rasping kh, ق a deep g, ع a soft scrape, and none of them translate. A pair already made stays on the board faded; tap it to hear the word again.

If the words are shown but never spoken, this browser has no Arabic voice installed.
