French Supermarket: In Class

French Feud: the Lesson Summary plays as a game show (the header's button switches back to the classroom). Each board asks for the most common answers to an English prompt — pick the French tiles that are on it. Most tiles are decoys: one that is not on the board is a strike and costs 10 points, and answers you find after a strike still go up but score nothing. You stay on the board until every answer is found. Build rounds ask you to put a sentence in order; a wrong one comes back later and scores nothing when it does. The Test type row sets the mix of boards and build rounds.
Who Can Speak French?: any of the last five levels before the Lesson Summary — and, behind the Feud, the Summary itself — plays as a prime-time quiz show (the header's button switches back to the classroom). Fifteen questions, three lifelines — 50:50, Ask the Audience, Phone a Friend — and every answer glows as a final answer before it is marked. There is no failing: a wrong answer keeps what is banked, and the question comes round again until you get it right.
How to play: le professeur writes a supermarket word or sentence on the board — French with its accent marks, and the way it is said underneath — and speaks it aloud. Pick the English that matches from four choices. Right, and le professeur cheers you on; wrong, and the answer is revealed, you are encouraged, and the word comes back later until you get it right. There is no failing. The copy button puts the French on your clipboard, and the speaker button says the line again. The lesson covers the fruit and vegetable, bakery, butcher, fish, dairy and frozen aisles; products, requests, checkout, change and prices — the French a shopper needs in a real supermarché.
