How to play: a 9×9 board, and you play black. Stones go on the line crossings, not the squares, and once placed they do not move. A group of touching stones lives by its liberties — the empty points next to it — and a group whose last liberty is filled is taken off the board. You may not play a stone that would leave its own group with no liberties, nor one that returns the board to the position it was just in. Pass when there is nothing worth playing; two passes in a row end the game. Your score is the empty territory you surround plus the stones you captured, and white adds 5.5 for moving second, so no game is ever a tie.
