Take your seat — lǎoshī will write the first question on the board.

Mandarin Feud: the Lesson Summary plays as a game show (the header's button switches back to the classroom). Each board asks for the most common answers to an English prompt — pick the Mandarin tiles that are on it. Most tiles are decoys: one that is not on the board is a strike and costs 10 points, and answers you find after a strike still go up but score nothing. You stay on the board until every answer is found. Build rounds ask you to put a sentence in order; a wrong one comes back later and scores nothing when it does. The Test type row sets the mix of boards and build rounds.
Who Can Speak Mandarin?: any of the last five levels before the Lesson Summary — and, behind the Feud, the Summary itself — plays as a prime-time quiz show (the header's button switches back to the classroom). Fifteen questions, three lifelines — 50:50, Ask the Audience, Phone a Friend — and every answer glows as a final answer before it is marked. There is no failing: a wrong answer keeps what is banked, and the question comes round again until you get it right.
How to play: lǎoshī writes an ENGLISH word or sentence on the board and you give it back in Mandarin. Most questions are four choices — each shows the Mandarin with its reading, and the two small buttons beside it copy it to your clipboard and say it aloud, as often as you like. A SENTENCE may instead arrive as a bank of scrambled words: tap them into the right order, and tap any word again to take it back out before you check. Right, and lǎoshī cheers you on; wrong, and you are told the answer, lǎoshī encourages you, and the question comes back around later until you get it right. There is no failing — the class ends when every word has been answered, and the marking says how many you cleared first time. The expand button on the room takes the class full screen with the question and the answers still on it, and the lesson is always the full one — the continents and the countries in them, the compass, the capitals, the great mountains, rivers, seas and deserts and how they are measured, and the dynasties, sights and inventions of Chinese history. The Lesson Summary is a plain classroom over the whole lesson. This classroom is the lesson before Mandarin Challenge, the quiz board where every clue is a fact and every response is a question, on the Mandarin course.
